How the research is done
Methodology
- Public, citable data first
- Analysis prioritizes public sources such as federal statistical agencies, so readers can access the same data.
- Documented pipelines
- Data cleaning, transformations, and modeling choices are recorded and, where possible, released as code.
- Uncertainty stated
- Survey margins of error, small-sample caveats, and model error are reported alongside estimates.
- Practitioner review
- Findings are checked against operational experience to catch results that are statistically sound but practically misleading.
Commitments to readers
Editorial standards
- Labeled status
- Every piece is marked as published, forthcoming, draft, or illustrative. Sample content is never presented as research.
- No invented numbers
- Statistics appear only when they come from a cited, documented analysis.
- Corrections
- Material errors are corrected openly, with a note describing what changed and when.
- Independence
- Research is independent. Any relevant affiliations or conflicts of interest will be disclosed on the piece itself.
- AI use
- Where AI tools assist with code or drafting, the analysis and conclusions are reviewed by the author, and AI-generated outputs are labeled.
